Milton Keynes Nipponzan Myohoji Peace Pagoda at Willen Lake in Milton Keynes hosted their annual ceremony to bring hope and healing to those who suffered from atomic bomb attack in 1944 Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This was the 78th Anniversary of Remembrance.

The 78th Anniversary Ceremony was held in front of the Peace Pagoda on Sunday 06th August 2023 at 7.30PM, followed by the floating of candle-lit lanterns on Willen Lake. The ceremony seeks to reflect on the horrors of war in an atomic age, to remember those who have died, and to pray together for peace and harmony between all people and nations.

Venerable Akurala Samitha gave a short talk with some reflections on Buddhism and peace and led a blessing chanting and a short guided meditation on mindfulness. Venerable Dammala Piyananda Thera and a large number of devotees and Dhamma School children, representing Milton Keynes Vihara Mindfulness Meditation Centre attended.

Thank you to all for participating to make the ceremony a success.
