With the dawn of Esala (July) Full Moon Poya Day, by making a special invitation to monks, we start the Annual Three Months Rains Retreat at every Buddhist Temple.  This is the highest meritorious season. Whatever we do during this season bears the highest and noblest blessings. Therefore we organize series of events for all of us to come together and enhance our spiritual practice by cultivating sila (morality), Samadhi (Meditation) and Panna (insight wisdom) , make more merits by practicing dana (offerings generosity), sila (practicing higher precepts) and Bhavana (Mediation) and gain lots of blessings by doing chanting suttas, protection chanting, pooja etc. All are welcome to join in whatever they can. All your participate is important.

2612 before to date, On a Full Moon Day in Esala (July), A Blissful Brilliant Dhamma Night, The Lord Buddha set The First Discourse in motion called Dhamma Chakka Pavatthana Sutta.

අදට වසර 2612 කට පෙර ඇසළ පුන් පොහෝ දිනයක පිංබර රාත්‍රියක ප්‍රථම වරට දෙසූ ප්‍රථම ධර්ම දේශනය ධම්ම චක්ක පවත්තන සූත්‍රය (දම්සක් පැවතුම් සූත්‍රය) පෙර සිරිත් පරිදි සිදු කරණ දේශනාව ශ්‍රවණය කිරීමට ඔබත් නොවරදවාම පැමිණෙන්න.

Esala (July) full Moon Poya day is given much significance apart from other two main full moon days Vesak (May) and Poson (June) because it is related to great incidents of the life of Prince Siddartha (Later the Lord Buddha) both prior to and following his Enlightenment. Among those significances, 🪷 The conception of Boddhisatta in the womb of Queen Maya, 🪷 The Great Renunciation at the age of 29 the prince decided to leave his palace and beloved ones in order to find the way out of the universal suffering, 🪷 Preaching Abhidhamma (Buddhist Analytical Philosophy or The Highest Dhamma) to Matru Divya Rajaya (his mother) in the Thavuthisa heaven. 🪷 Two months after the Buddha attained Enlightenment, he delivered his first sermon, Dhamma Chakka Pawathna Sutta (the wheel of truth) to the five ascetics, Realizing the Dhamma all five ascetics became Bhikkhus establishing the community of monks and as a result all three jewels (Buddha, Dhamma & Sangha) reached a completion, 🪷 Declaration of his Great Passing Away to Nibbanic bliss, 🪷 The beginning of the ‘Vas’ “Spiritual Rains Retreat Season” of the Sangha or the monks, Realizing the difficulties that mendicant monks undergone to propagate The Dhamma during the rainy season. The Buddha set out a monastic rule for monks to stay in one place during the rainy season, The first Vas was observed by the Buddha and his first five disciples the five ascetics at Isipathana in Benares, 🪷 Laying of the foundation for the Ruwanwelisaya in Sri Lanka and its enshrinement of relics by King Dutugamunu, 🪷 Starting the Esala Celebration and Procession (Kandy Perahera) in Sri Lanka to honour The Tooth Relic of The Buddha which brought to Sri Lanka in 847 Buddhist Era.

වෙසක් පොසොන් වැනි ප්‍රධාන පොහෝ දිනයන් ගෙවීයාමෙන් පසුව උදාවෙන වටිනාම පොහොය ඇසළ පොහෝ දිනයයි. සමස්ථ ලෝකවාසී බෞද්ධ ජනතාවටම ඇසළ පොහොය වැදගත් වන්නේ බුදු දහම පහළවී ජීවිතයේ යථාර්ථය පිළිබද ඇස් හැරිය දිනය නිසාවෙනි. ඇසළ පොහොයදා සිදුවූ විශේෂ වැදගත්කම් අතර 🪷 බෝසතාණෝ මව් කුස පිලිසිද ගැනීම, 🪷 ගිහිගෙය ගිනිගෙයක් බව වටහා ගෙන ගිහිගෙය අතහැර මහා අභිනිෂ්ක්‍රමණය සිදු කිරීම, 🪷 වසර 2567 කට පෙර බරණැස ඉසිපතනාරාමයේ මිගදායේදී පස්වන තවුසන්ට ප්‍රථම ධර්ම දේශනයවූ ධම්ම චක්ක පවත්තන සූත්‍රය දේශනා කිරීම, 🪷 ගන්ධබ්බ රුක්ඛමූලයේදී යමා මහ පෙළහර පා තීර්ථකයන්ගේ මානය බිද දමනය කිරීම, 🪷 සිදුහත් බෝසත් උපතින් දින සතකට පසු මියගිය මෑණියන්වූ මහා මායා දේවිය දෙව්ලොව මාතෘ දිව්‍යරාජයාව ඉපිද වැඩ වසන සමයේ දෙව්ලොවට වැඩම කොට විජම් බණ දෙසා මව්තුමිය සසරින් ඒතර කිරීම, 🪷 වැසි සාර මාසය තුල භික්ෂූන් චාරිකාවේ නිරතවීමෙන් වූ අපහසුතා වලක්වා ලන්නට ඒක ආරාමයක නතර වී වස් සමාදන් වීමට බුද්ධ නියමයක් කිරීම, 🪷 ශ්‍රී ලාංකික බෞද්ධයන්ට අනුබුදු මිහිදු මහ රහතන් වහන්සේ ප්‍රථම ඛණ්ඩ සීමාව සම්මත කොට දේවානම් පියතිස්ස මහ රජුගේ අනුග්‍රහය මත ප්‍රථම ලංකාදීප වස් සමාදානය, 🪷 දුටුගැමුණු රජතුමන් තුන් ලොවට අසද්‍රස මහා දාගැබ වූ රුවන්වැලි චෛත්‍ය රාජයානන් වහන්සේ ගොඩ නැන්වීමට ලක්ෂ සංඛ්‍යාත මහ රහතන් වහන්සේලා අභියස ප්‍රථම පස් පිඩැල්ල කැපීම, 🪷 ශ්‍රී බුද්ධ වර්ෂ 847 දී ලංකාදීපයට වැඩම කළ ශ්‍රී දළදා වහන්සේ වෙනුවෙන් දළදා පිංකම සහ නුවර දළදා පෙරහැර ආරම්භ කිරීම.
